ABOUT SWIGG
Our Story and Mission
Why Did We Embark On
This Journey Towards
Making Vitamin Infused
Water Better?
We think that staying hydrated doesn’t have
to be a chore. Radical idea, we know.
PURE HYDRATION WITH
NOTHING TO HIDE
Our Dedication
To Sustainability
We believe that hydration should be easy, fun, and flavorful. Swigg is a vitamin drink powder that serves as your daily multi-vitamin and source of hydration all in one. It’s designed to be easy to take on the go - just rip, tip, sip, and you're all set!
Sustainability Beyond Buzzwords
We have focused our brand around drink powder and reusable, recycled bottles for three main reasons:
Tap Water Is Better
Than You Think
(For the earth and your body)
Single Use Plastic Is
Worse Than You Think
(Yes, even if it’s ‘recyclable’)
Healthy Drink Claims
Can Be Deceiving
(Spoiler: most of the time it’s on purpose)
Also as you read, please keep this in mind: Knowledge should be power, not a cloud of guilt, but even with this knowledge we’re not expecting anyone to be a zero-waste die hard eco warrior on day 1. Everyone who is reading this was once an infant, so keep this in mind: “Baby steps accumulate!” Every effort made to preserve and protect the environment is a worthwhile and admirable endeavor!
TAP WATER IS BETTER THAN YOU THINK
Tap vs Bottled Water:
Did You Know?
On average in North America, it takes about 1.4 liters of water to create 1 liter of bottled water
On a pure water-usage level, bottled water has already lost! Wasteful, especially in times of water scarcity! Some estimates go as high as 6-7 times the amount of water in the bottle when the whole supply chain is taken into account. (Source: npr.org)
Plastic contamination is rampant
in bottled water
Not the mix you want for your drink! This 2018 study published in Frontiers in Chemistry analyzed samples taken from 259 brands of bottled water from around the world, and found that 93% of them contained “microplastic” synthetic polymer particles. (Source: nih.org). The full extent of the effects of these particles on our bodies is unknown, but what we do know is not good. (Source: Science Of The Total Environment Volume 702)
On average in the US, bottled water is 2000 times more expensive per gallon than tap.
A non-value-adding middle man is making money hand over fist! 50 Cent may have put it best: “I saw in the supermarket a gallon of water for $2.89 and further down the aisle I saw another gallon of water for $0.59, and I know they’re both the same…. So I told my Manager I want to sell water” No shade, 50, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ is still one of the best hop hop albums of all time “Many people assume that the higher price tag is justified by the health benefits of bottled water, but in most cases, that's not true.” (Source: Business Insider)
Many brands like Dasani and Aquafina are filtered tap water from municipal sources.

SINGLE-USE PLASTIC IS WORSE THAN YOU THINK
The Big Bummer About
“Recyclable” Plastic Bottles
Realizing that almost all plastic bottled beverages were extremely unsustainable is part of what inspired us to create Swigg powder and reusable sports bottles. The more we read about the ecological impacts of single use plastic the more we were sure we wanted to deliver the benefits of Swigg in the most plastic-negative way possible. Here are a few things that may surprise you about single use plastic:
Plastic recycling was largely pushed by oil and gas companies as a way to sell more plastic.
As Larry Thomas, former president of the Society of Plastics Industry, told NPR about their rationale: "If the public thinks that recycling is working, then they are not going to be as concerned about the environment.”
In reality, since recycling programs started in the US in the 1970’s, less than 10% of plastic has ever been recycled.
For anyone who has been making an effort to recycle plastic their entire lives, the meager fraction that actually gets recycled instead of ending up in a landfill is pretty astonishing.
We know that ultimately, “Recycling delays, rather than avoids, final disposal“, but we’re trying to do our part to keep whatever plastic we can out of landfills.
The Use and Fate Of All Plastics
For all of these reasons, our reusable sports bottles are Impact Resistant--made with durable, USA made Eastman Tritan Copolyester, BPA-free plastic. Not trying to brag, just had to address the elephant in the room, even if it’s made of plastic.
HEALTY DRINK CLAIMS CAN BE DECEIVING
Unhealthy Claims & The Marketing Switcheroo
We wanted to pack as much daily goodness into each packet of Swigg as humanly possible, and we were reverse-inspired by brands that claim to be healthy but in reality are either neutral or downright unhealthy. A favorite example is Vitamin Water, and waht their lawyers said in a meeting. (see below)
Interesting defense to a false advertising suit!
We’re proud of everything we put into Swigg. We did our homework and tried to get the best daily nutrients, minerals, and supplements possible into an easily soluble and tasty drink mix.
"No consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking VitaminWater was a healthy beverage."
-Attorneys for Coca Cola, 2010
"I saw in the supermarket a gallon of water for 2.89 and further down the aisle I saw another gallon of water for 0.59, and I know they’re both the same…. So I told my Manager I want to sell water...everybody needs water”
-50 Cent on Larry King Live
More than anything, the subject of misleading claims brings us back to our original point: knowledge is power! We want to be upfront with everything we put in Swigg, and everything we’ve done to bring it to your door in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible.
Remember: it doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing effort, and habits take time to change! Little steps accumulate to make big differences, and making any effort to help our planet is always something to be proud of.
It may seem strange...
But the truth is, despite water being a vital life resource, many of us are just not motivated to drink it. When our lives get busy, staying hydrated tends to fall by the wayside. And many water alternatives are packed with sugar and are heavily dyed.
We developed Swigg as a way to stay hydrated and take your daily multivitamin, all at once. Since it comes in packet form, you have full control over the strength of your beverage, and the packets are easy to store. No need to clear space in your kitchen for a bunch of bottle premade drinks.
Swigg is sugar-free and speci cally formulated to replace your daily multivitamin. Refreshing fruit avors, lightly sweetened, and nourishing, Swigg vitamin drink mix can help you cut out sugary drinks and get on the path to a healthier lifestyle. Its ingredients are made to give you an energy boost that will last throughout the day, helping you avoid the dreaded mid-afternoon slump and enjoy your life.
